NaNoWriMo

So…I didn’t post on Monday…

I’m so sorry! Life just swallows me up. But hold me to it, people! One day I will have a regular schedule!

Dusts hands now that that’s over with, I shall get to the heart of my post. I’m feeling extremely comfortable as I type this, so I’d like you to feel like that as well. Change into your pajamas, and if you can’t, get a blanket. If you can’t do either, PUT THIS BLOG DOWN AND WAIT UNTIL YOU CAN! Got your pajamas/blanket? Good! Imagine a day spent with friends doing fun stuff, then having piano lessons, then coming home to finish some schoolwork, and finally sitting down to what you’ve been waiting to do all day. Grab a cup of hot chocolate, or tea bitter as wormwood if you’re a Volunteer, or just coffee, and continue reading this post.

November is NaNoWriMo. For those out there who are not writers or simply haven’t heard of it, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. This is a challenge to all writers to write a complete, 50,000 word rough draft of your novel. It doesn’t have to be perfect, you will go back and fix it later, but the goal is have 50,000 words on paper (or computer). I am participating this year, and my story is going to be the first book in a fantasy series (maybe).

In it, a girl named Andrea and her little sister Penelope are whisked away to another world, to a dragon academy. They learn history about their own world that they could never imagine, and discover powers that lurk just below the surface of their mind. But after several increasingly violent attacks by a group of people who do not agree with the leaders of the academy, Andrea and some friends are sent to extinguish the threat, but there is more to this group of radicals than meets the eye. I will post some excerpts.

My name is Andrea Mitchell. I am 14 years old and live in Atlanta, Georgia. Any one of my friends, family, and even enemies can tell you I don’t believe in dragons, or fairies, or unicorns, or any of those stories that little kids hang on to when they want the impossible. I even hated the Narnia books. But one night, everything changed. Now I know the truth.

Well, I still don’t believe in fairies.

Ahead of me, I saw a huge spiral swirling. Light emitted faintly from the core.

No, no, no, no! My whole life flashed before my eyes. Did Penelope know I loved her? Would my mom miss me? How long would it take before they knew I was dead? How would they know some crazy boys flew me right into a black hole?

She was cut off by glass breaking. I heard boots climb into our room and s-l-o-w-l-y cross it. They stopped by the concealed entrance of our hideout. Tatum and I held our breaths.

Someone above us knelt down. I could hear their fingers feeling for something. A ring or handle to open the trapdoor? Did whoever it was know we were down here?

Please comment if you would like to hear more about my story! It’s in its beginning stages, but I think it’s coming along very nicely. Also, additional news, I am working on a crossover of Star Wars and the Aetherlight. For those of you who do not know what the Aetherlight is, Google it. I hope to upload artwork very soon.

Be blessed! Have a great day!
